Dear Grade four and Five musicians,
In this lesson, you are going to learn a song called "Soda Pop," and compose your own soda pop rhythms. Your rhythm must be 16 beats long and be performed with a steady beat. You can choose to perform it on homemade instruments, or using body percussion. If you decide to use body percussion, please use at least three different kinds (stomp, pat, clap, snap).

Hello Grade four and five musicians!
Listening to different types of music helps us better understand different people, cultures and ideas. Jazz is the perfect genre of music to do just that! I always get some students who think that they wouldn't like jazz music, but when they listened to different types of jazz, they almost always find one that they like. So, keep an open mind when you're listening to these examples.
As you listen, pick your favourites from the different jazz styles. Which ones do you like the most? Make sure to listen to all the examples. Once you've listened to the examples, send me an email or a message on our TEAMS music channel to tell me which one you liked the best and WHY, ENJOY!
